Lonely Planet – which I think is, hands-down, one of the best resources, if not the best, about traveling in Istanbul and Turkey – is publishing new guidebooks to the city and the country! Yippee!
The new "Istanbul Encounter Guide" (2nd edition, March 2009, £7) will be released sometime this month and should be available in bookstores soon. Though I haven't seen the book yet, it is written by Virginia Maxwell, author of several other Istanbul and Turkey guides, so it should be fairly spot on.
Thankfully, the next edition of Lonely Planet's country guide to Turkey will be published in April. Don't bother buying the 10th edition, published in April 2007; wait until the new one comes out or download individual chapters online.
Happy travels!
